Online digital publications

Online news

For an overview online news use the space more have generally have more news stories on offer, whilst on newspapers there is only one big headline and then little stories inside the newspaper. Online newspapers use more images to show what the story is going to be about, whilst on newspapers they don't have the pictures on the first page to get someone interested.

Daily mail:

Daily Mail Online

With daily mail online they have a lot more stories available, for example they have about 100 stories. Whilst on the other hand the newspaper only have a certain amount of stories on their newspapers.

This online newspapers does follow some of the same codes and conventions as the print versions as they have the main masthead and the stories still have a main headline for each of the stories, they also have a main picture, also along with that they have some of the story for a snippet and then the person reading that would want to read more about that story. Due to it being online it only follows some of the codes and conventions of newspapers, also around the sides of the news stories they have plugs on the side of the stories.
For the daily mail there aren't many political stories on the main page of it, but if you specify what genre you want then you would be able to access more political stories there, whilst on the paper publication version on the front cover there was a political story there.
I think that the online version attracts more of a younger audience as they would prefer to read the news on their phone rather than buying a print publication. Whilst on the other hand I think that the print publications attract a older audience as they wouldn't know how to access the stories on their phones in a stereotypical way.
I think they invest more into the online publications as they are becoming more popular with the generation and not that many people are buying the print publications anymore like they used to, so they'd put more investment into the online publications to make them more appealing to the audience that is reading them.
They generate income/profit as you can subscribe to it and sometimes pay a certain amount of money per month and that's how they generate the income/profit as they are not getting the profit of the print publications.
The interactive elements of the platform is the videos that are related to the news story and with using videos a lot of people may prefer to read a little about a news story and then watch a clip of the person talking about it and this could increase customers loyalties as they enjoy reading and watching the news stories.

The Guardian:

 The Guardian Online
The Guardian does follow some of the same codes and conventions of the print publication as they have the masthead, main visual image, main headline, plugs and also the lead story. The way that it doesn't follow the codes and conventions is that there are a lot of news stories on the home page and each day.
