what are the songs about?
- The song unfinished sympathy by massive attack is about her not being able to get over her last relationship, it is also that she is finding it difficult to move on from it and to find a new relationship. The song is a bit like a poem and could be seen as her confessing her love to someone but also being too scared to start a new relationship with them.
- The song burn the witch by Radiohead is about them burning a witch, they burn the witch because he's an outsider and is different to everyone else in the village and the people that live in the village want to be all the same. The music video makes an reference to the 1973 British horror movie 'the wiker man.'
what message or messages do they convey to the audience?
- unfinished sympathy conveys a message that love can take over your whole life and because of that you end up ignoring everyone/everything that surrounds your life, e.g when she's walking down the street she ignores everything that is going on in front of her eyes.
- burn the witch conveys a message that we have this unnecessary fear inside of us that when an 'outsider' comes we instantly don't like them and we feel the need to kick them out of the society that we have created.
how have the artists been represented in their respective videos?
- in the music video for unfinished sympathy the main band members are not shown much in the video, as it just focuses on Shara Nelson walking down the street. The setting of the video is a street in LA and because it is a 'normal' setting that you would see on a everyday basis it shows that the band is normal and it can also relate to massive attack growing up on the streets of Bristol.
- the music video for burn the witch by Radiohead is creative as it is a stop motion video and it makes references to the 'trumtonshire trilogy' and the 1973 British horror movie 'the wiker man.'
why have they been represented in such a way?
- the band have been represented in such way because it's their way of telling their fans where they come from and that they're proud of that. also because the song is a love song it appeals to a wider audience.
- the band have been represented in a way because their genre of music is 'alternative rock' they tried to be creative with it and it helps gain attention as it is a very different video to what other artists create.

- i think that the videos do represent the artists successfully as the appear to be normal and 'down to earth' and that they don't look like 'stars' normally would and because the band doesn't really feature in the video this shows that they are normal and they don't need to look like stars.
- the burn the witch video does represent the artists successfully as because it is such a creative video it shows that they're the typical band and that they need to feature in it to make it successful.

- in the unfinished sympathy video they use on long tracking shot which focuses on Shara Nelson for the entire video and there are no cuts between the different angles. it was utilised to create a sense of immediacy.
- in the Radiohead music video they use a stop motion video, this is in the style of the 'trumptonshire trilogy.' this was ultised as it would appeal to the people that used to watch the tv show.

- they reference them because it helps appeal to a larger audience from the people that enjoy either one or both of them, it also helps people who were not fans before understand the music video more.
how has the 'street' been used in the massive attack video?
- 'the street' has been used to show their fans where they came from and what type of music they produce, their genre of music is 'trip hop' which was the alternative to the street version of 'hip hop.'
do the visuals work well with the musical and lyrical content?
- the visuals and the lyrics don't match as the lyrics are about love and how she's been hurt before, whilst the for the visuals all Shara Nelson is doing is walking down a street in LA and in my opinion it should of been set in a more romantic setting.
- the visuals and the lyrics do match as they are both 'creepy' and unsettling and the video helps to create that feeling.

- the fans would get pleasure as the video isn't a typical music video and you are able to see a different type of lifestyle shown in the video.
- the fans would get pleasure if they were previously fans of the movie or the tv show as they would understand the references made throughout the video.
