Minecraft audiences

Who is the target audience here? The target audience is the younger generation of people, pre-teen to teens. How can you tell? You can tell by the way the game is set out and how simple it is. The dialogue is also very simple and the way that they have made their characters have a sense of humour and the types of jokes made.  How does this differ from other versions of Minecraft? The players can get involved in something that has already been created/made for them. Make a list of the different ways that people can play (and interact with) Minecraft. For each of these, suggest who the audiences might be with reasons to support Console, phone, tablet etc

Crafting Participatory Culture

What is Jenkins's theory that the author is referring to here? How might it apply to how audiences interact with the Minecraft game? Jenkins defines this kind of culture as one in which fans and other consumers are invited to actively participate in the creation and circulation of new content. The way that this helps the audience interact with the Minecraft game is by having them actively participate in the game and the creation and circulation of new content. How is Minecraft different to conventional computer games in terms of narrative and what kind of experience this offers gamers? A user is both a 'producer' and a 'consumer' can be referenced as a 'prosumer'. Only about 10% of people produce material and 90% of people are still consumers. The fans can still have different levels of participation. How did YouTube respond to this trend? Have a look at what YouTube offers to gamers by going to the site. Watch a PewDiePie and Ali A video as part

How is Minecraft marketed differently to traditional methods?

The way that Minecraft is marketed differently to traditional methods is that to help spread the word of Minecraft, Mojang relied on the word of mouth between gamers and featured sites such as the Penny Arcade web comic, this would then generate interest amongst gamers. Whilst with other games, they would come out with a TV advert or something that would generate a lot of interest from consumers. Another way is the cultural impact, as whilst the word to mouth was working with gamers, they wanted to sell it to a bigger audience that probably haven’t played a video game before. The way they did this was by getting the audiences to share their own mods and game footage across web forums and video sharing websites e.g. YouTube where a bigger audience can watch. To help with the marketing they also released different versions which was moving away from creation and instead moving too only narratives, including story modes, spectator modes, educational modes and multiplayer functiona

An introduction to minecraft

1. What are the uses and gratifications of Minecraft? Give specific examples of how the game entertains, help audiences identify with others and educates. The uses and gratifications of minecraft are that they have made it so that the game is interactive for the audience and the primary reason for that is so then they can give feedback on the game and tell the creators what they want and what needs improving etc. The way that the game entertains the audience is by making it interesting, new and fresh. The way that they have the 'words' make it so then the players can escape for the stresses of everyday life and can now pretend to be in that game and as if it's real life. Minecraft helps educate the people that take part and play the game, it's the first game to teach them to create and not destroy, it educates people into building things with a special type of material which is seen as 'electricity' and if you attach something to that then it creates an activ

Statement of intent

How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words) The artist that I am creating is going to be a duo, their name is going to represent the type of music they’re going to produce and it’s going to stand out. The logo for the artist is going to look clean and modern, as this then represents the artist and also the type of music they listen too. The logo is going to have the same colours as the rest of the website so then they all match and makes it look simple yet modern. The duo is in their teens so they can relate to the younger audience, the music video is also going to have a young look to it, but also still make it mature for the younger people. My artists’ logo and name is going to represent the type of music they’re going to produce, so the logo is going to include bright colours to help it stand out from the rest of the other artists logos. Music video comparisons

Sweet lovin' - Sigala In rhis music video there is a lot of uses of colour, the music video is bright and happy. The main person in the music video is dancing throughout and herself is happy. The video is set on the streets of LA of what it looks like and it has a very summery mise-en-scene which helps add that dance music feel to the music video. Finesse - Bruno Mars ft Cardi B In this music video it has a very 90's feel to it and the music video style is very simililar to the way the fresh prince of bel-air was filmed and the way that everybody dresses in the video is also very similar to the fresh prince of bel-air.  In the music video they do a lot of dancing which helps it add to that music video feel. One Kiss - Calvin Harris ft Dua Lipa In this music video it has the 'tropical' feel to it, although it is a green screen behind her, it still has that summery vibe to it. There are a lot of colours involved in t

Comparison of two newspapers

Image
In this newspaper they haven't chosen a 'pretty' or 'flattering' photo of her on the front of the newspaper, they have also called her 'Mrs' which is quite patronizing and is informal as the newspaper hasn't used her full proper name, they have just called her 'Mrs U-turn' which then also gives her a negative representation because it's basically saying that she goes back on what she says a lot of the time and the words 'climbdown' and 'flip - flops' and this means that she tends to go back on herself hence the 'latest climbdown' also which means she does it again and again.  The words that are used can be shown as if she is weak and isn't capable of making decisions because she is a female and she doesn't have the power.

Dance music websites

http://www.martingarrix.com/ On this website Martin Garrix is promoting his single that has been recently released, the colours that are used are bright and eye catching and this helps grab the attention of the audience. As soon as you go on the website you are instantly greeted with his new hit single 'like i do' and to help that stand out even more the colours that they have used are very bright and eye catching. http://calvinharris.com/ Again on this website you can see that his recently new single is being promoted on the first page and the colours that they have used are very eye catching and will help grab the audiences attention. Also on the website on the top right corner you can see that he has put some tour dates there that are easily accessible for the person that's on this website now. http://www.davidguetta.com/_flames/#! This website is also promoting the single that has recently been released, he also uses bright

How Theresa May is represented in the media

Find a selection of newspaper front pages that depict her and decide how she is being represented using stereotypes relating to masculine and feminine stereotypes. Outline these on your blog with some explanation. Can you use any of the ideas and academic arguments in your analysis?

Comparison of two magazines

The daily mail is a right wing newspaper and the title has positive connotations to it, right wing parties like the conservatives and UKIP supported the bombing of Syria, hence why the newspaper has positive connotations to it.  On the other hand, the independent is centre but is edging towards left wing as the title has negative connotations towards the bombing of Syria. Left wing parties like Labour and Liberal Democrats were against the bombing of Syria, which is why they have negative connotations to the title.

The video, filmed on Steadicam, begins with a shot of a street gang before moving to follow Nelson walking along the pave

Dance music research

what makes all these videos from a dance genre? -repeated beat -repeated lyrics -same tempo   Explore how the artists are using representation to appeal to their target audience in these three videos by picking out key frames from the video to analyse. -set on the streets -diversity of characters(race, gender, etc..) -something non naturalistic happens -all dancing at some point in the video -hip hop dancing  - sunny day -bright colours -colours match skin tone What other music videos could you find from the same genre? Outline two and explain why you think they are termed dance. Fleur East - Sax -  it has repeated beat, repeated lyrics and in the music video it uses bright colours, they do 'hip hop' dancing.  Kiesza - Hideaway-  this song also has repeated beat, repeated lyrics and in the music video this is on the streets, its a sunny day and there is diversity used with the people that are involved in the video.

Three point lighting

Image
key lighting - usually the most important light, the purpose is to highlight the form and dimension of the subject. fill lighting - used to reduce the contrast of a scene to match the dynamic range of recording media.  hair lighting - purpose to fill in the shadows that the key light has created.

Video comparison

The Similarities between the two shots are that we both had one person standing in front of the plain background. the camera angle we used was very similar to the original A straight on wide shot showing some of the surrounding area and background. We managed to match the style of outfit that the actors were wearing as they both wore a jacket with a tie. The lighting of the shot was also all natural light like the original. the differences of the shots include, the outfit while the same style are different looking as ours used a school uniform and the original had a full colourful suit. the location was different as well as we used the wall of a school building and the original used use the fence and corner or a building in London. The lighting in both videos used natural light this was because the original was standing in front of a white building which means a lot of light was being reflected back at the subject and camera. The mise en scene for ours was slightly off as we could only

The way i have managed to blend fairtrade and fashion is purely by the title, logo and the slogan. In a way my poster isn't successful in addressing the demands of the brief as the background or photos represent fairtrade in anyway. I think that the way my advertising campaign appeals to my target audience is by having young model and because my target audience is around 15-20 and by having young models it'll help appeal to them more and then they could imagine the clothes on them. In my original plans that were made I was going to have a group of people(taking inspiration from a vogue advert) and then that would show diversity as there would be different people with different personalities. I then changed it to just being 4 people on one poster and then 2 on the other poster, the reason for this is because I felt if there were a lot of people then there would be too much going on and then divert the attention away that it is fairtrade. The use of pho

Pitch

My poster for my fair trade fashion brand will relate to fair trade with the brand name, slogan and the logo. On the actual poster there will be a blank background, to keep it simple and not over complicate things. The profits made from the products made will go to the farmers that helped make these products. My brand name ' égalité' which is French for 'equality' which is what fair trade is all about so this then relates to what this fashion brand is about. My slogan is 'fair trade is the fashion revolution' as a lot of brands are associated with fair trade and if they're not then the brands are making a change into being fair trade and that's where the 'fair trade is the fashion revolution.'

name:  égalité (equality) slogan: fair trade is the fashion revolution logo: Photo's: 1. How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words)  Firstly I intend to use my brand name, logo and slogan to express that our company are working with fair trade charities and that the profit made from the clothes will go to the fair trade farmers and charities. The idea of the poster is that the name, logo and slogan all relate to fair trade but then the photos are going to be plain and blank, but then it is also still effective and will stand out. The location of the two posters are: one in the underground stations and then another one in the train stations. The reason why I have chosen these locations is because typically a majority of the people that are in my age range for my posters typically travel a lot so to put the posters in these

The ethics behind the fashion

This product is Hugo Boss and is a male aftershave. This advert will appear in multi branded shops such as Debenhams and Selfridges. Also it will appear on billboards and on bus stops. As well as these the advert will feature on internet advertisements such as websites and before a You tube video is played. The slogan for this advert is 'MAN OF TODAY'. This appeals to men as they want to be the 'man of today' by wearing the aftershave. It also suggests to the audience how there is a stereotype for men to look and act a certain way. The target audience would be young men and women intending to buy for their husband or boyfriend or just as a gift. Professional fragrance advert such as 'Sauvage' and 'Paco Rabanne' show strength of the male kind and shows men that other men want to be and partners want their boyfriend or husband to be.  The positives of the advert is that we have the main visual image and the actual product on the advert, we also have
