Adverts

Lucozade: Gareth Bale

The thing that is being sold in this advert is a sports drink called Lucozade. Lucozade is a soft drink, manufactured by a Japanese company 'Suntory' and marketed as a range of sports and energy drinks, the drink Lucozade was introduced in 1927. The drink would usually cost around £1 in the UK.
The target audience would be fans of Gareth Bale or people who enjoy energy drinks or just Lucozade. The target audience would involve Gareth Bale fans as they would be interested in what companies he is working with and if they look up to him then they would buy this drink as they would want to be similar to their role model.
The representations that are evident in the advert is Gareth Bale who is well known football player who played for Real Madrid and Wales, he is also a young man who is attractive and has manly features. The colour scheme of the advert us yellow, blue and white and with this his eyes are more exaggerated to join in with the colour scheme.
The representations have been employed by a popular sporting individual being advertised on the front of it to help advertise it.
The ways that this appeals to the target audience is by having a popular person on the front of it that people look up too and because the main focus is the footballer and people who look up to him and want to be like him will most likely to buy this drink.
This advert is successful because Lucozade is one of the most popular energy drinks in the UK and is now a £1.35 million company.

Shelter

In the advert the thing they are trying to advertise is shelter, shelter is a charity that helps people with homelessness and bad housing in England and Scotland, it was founded the 1st December 1966.
The target audience is anyone who likes helping charities out or someone who had maybe been through homelessness before and they want to help other people out in this type of situation.
The representations that are evident in this advert is three people who are in very different situations but could suffer the same consequences. The other representations that are evident are the almost transparent text

The representations have been represented as such because homelessness is a big issue in the UK and they need to raise awareness of it happening and with setting it out like this with the sentences 'but where will we live?' it makes the reader feel sorry for them.
The ways that this appeals to the target audience is by having three peoples faces that have a serious facial expressions.
The adverts are successful because it is a well known charity and a lot of people donate to their charity helping the homeless.

Old spice: Terry Crews

The thing that is being sold in this advert is the men's deodorant Old Spice. It is an American band of male grooming products(deodorants and antiperspirants) it was originally launched as Early American Old Spice.
The target audience for old spice is people who are usually older and isn't really for the younger audience.
The representations that are evident in this advert is a attractive man who is sat on white horse in a exotic place, so the representations help to sell the item more.
The representations have been represented in a such way as if it was on the cold streets of London where it's raining and cold then it's very likely that the product wouldn't be very successful, whilst because it's in a exotic place the product would be successful because it's in a happy place.
The ways in which this appeals to the target audience is by the words 'smell like a man, man' and this would help appeal to the target audience is by them wanting to smell like a 'man'.
This advert is successful because old spice is a very popular scent around the world and they have now a wide variety of men's care, and the company is now a £1 million company.
